Focus your energy comic

you’ll probably go through 2-3 step function changes in your lifetime. with how fast things are moving, betting the over is probably wise. regardless, we are clearly in one right now.

but that’s not what i’m here to talk about.

the best thing you can do when things get hard is focus your energy on what you can control.

self-pity is wasted energy. anger at how the world is changing is wasted energy. obsessing over what the next billionaire has is wasted energy. the daily outrage cycle, social media echo chambers, doom scrolling the news — all wasted energy.

i’m not saying go dark. generally knowing what’s happening in the world is fine. but then get back to what matters.

from a career lens, that means meeting technology where it is. leveraging what’s available to you today. not burning cycles on what-if scenarios unless you’re literally paid to forecast the future.

what can you control? focus on that.

what can you do right now? do that.

i won’t say it’s going to make you happy. but i’d bet a lot that doing so will make you less unhappy.
